Sydney and The Opera House

The weather here is perfect, and we’re already tanned a little bit (except Pauline, who looks like a red lobster).

We’re staying in the well-known Sydney. It’s one of the biggest cities in the South-East of Australia. It is not only a house for opera but you can also participate other kinds of concerts. The outside of the building is magnificently. We went on a visit tour, with a great guide! He told us that the architect was chosen after a contest in 1955. The winner of the competition was Jørn Utzon, a well-known Danish architect. Remarkable about all of this was that he made his design without any calculations. He took his inspiration from a sailboat, because sailing is one of his favourite sports. Aline and Pauline’s eyes lighted up by hearing this because they both adore to sail.

Not only the outside of the building is amazing, the inside is even more spectacular. The building counts more than a thousand rooms. The biggest room, the Concert Hall, has 2679 sits. When you visit this amazing building, you should definitely take a look at the ceiling. They are all black. Silke liked it very much, black is her favourite colour. Each year, the building gets more than 8.2 million visitors, and this year, we were four of those 8B2 million people! And honestly, our trip couldn’t have started better! We had never seen such a beautiful building before. Besides the visitors tour, we also attended an opera and the sound in the music hall was overwhelming. By the end of the concert, Elisabeth had tears in her eyes because of the emotions who came up by hearing these beautiful sounds.

Big kisses, the fantastic four XXX
