Today we left our hotel early, because we planned to go and discover the underwater world of the Great Barrier Reef. At 7 o’clock in the morning the four of us met the other people who were about to enter the same boat. We figured out that we were going to spend the whole day with them so we should get to know each other. It was a family with 4 children and two other girls from our age. The family of six was also from Belgium!
Then the boat left coast and we sailed to the reef. While on the way the crew explained us how we should put on our snorkling gear. Pauline had her diving suit the other way around and the twelve of us laughed with it the whole afternoon, we were all getting along pretty well. Meanwhile they explained us how to communicate with the others while in the water, this was very amusing because they had all different signs for the different animals we could come across in the reef. When you see a turtle, for example, you had to put your two fists on each other and make cirlcles with your thumbs. This actually looks like a turtle with a bit of imagination, you should try it sometime yourself!
Two hours later we were ready to dive into the water, and explore the ocean! First Silke and Pauline had some trouble with breathing through the mask, but with a little bit of concentration they also managed to breathe and take a look under water.
It was marvellous! So many tiny fishes were swimming everywere we could look, and the reef had so many different colours, it was almost hard to believe that al the reef is just a creation of our beautiful nature itself. Aline discovered a fish who resembled to Nemo, and also saw two turtles playing with each other. Elisabeth took some awesome photo’s with her GoPro, we can’t wait to watch the aftermovie of our trip! (If you want to check it out too, keep in touch with us because the link to our awesome aftermovie will be on our blog as soon as it’s ready!)
The youngest child of the family of six even showed us a small shark when we almost had to get back to the boat. We loved diving!
Back on the boat everyone was very excited to tell the others what they saw, we talked about it the whole time while heading back.
We’ve made some unforgettable memories today and hope to be back soon!
Big kisses, the fantastic four XXX
epic, i would love to visit it!!!
