The Tjapukai Park

The next day, we woke up wanting to learn more about the Aboriginal Culture in Australia.
We decided to visit the Tjapukai Park, an Aboriginal Cultural Events park. In this park, several spots were set up to form the common habitat of an Aboriginal. Each spot lets you discover a habit of an everyday Aboriginal. The choices were: boomerang or spear throwing, hunting, using weapons, playing the didgeridoo and many more activities linked to the Aboriginal culture.

We were told to pick two activities we’d like to try today.

In the morning, we wanted to learn how to throw a spear, because none of us had ever tried it before. We started with a lot of self-confidence, because come on, throwing a spear couldn't be that tough... Well, we guess we'd never say that again after trying it for the first time.

Elisabeth threw the first spear, but she held it backwards, which resulted in a broken spear... Woops...

By the end of this activity, everybody was able to throw the spear almost 100 metres far. The Aboriginals throw their spear about 150 metres so we could confirm we had done a good job.

After a tasty lunch, we chose to play the didgeridoo with the Aboriginals. Aline and Silke were very good at playing the didgeridoo, they knew exactly how to get the haunting sounds out of it. We were told that the sound coming out of a didgeridoo were similar to the sound of Australian native animals.

We had a lot of fun being an Aboriginal for one day, but agreed that being ourselves is also congenial, so we left the aboriginal stuff in the park and went to our next destination: Brisbane.

Big kisses, the fantastic four XXX
